Grace Ackles is an artist from Northern California, working to exhibit the unhealthy
symptoms of late capitalism via experimental documentary filmmaking and animation
that deals with sensations of alienation, dissociation, and hyperconsumption experienced
by real people. A recent undergraduate of UC Santa Cruz in art, anthropology and
literature, she has already been the recipient of several grants and participated in exhibitions
both locally and abroad. In-between projects she holds jobs on fish and flower farms where
she gets to work closely with plants and animals--occasionally resulting in stints of
scientific illustration--as a reprieve from aforementioned symptoms.
